Apple (better known as Steve Jobs) has launched the iPad. Those who are enthusiastic to this subject have already put their names in the waiting list to get one. And those who aren´t, have been practicing their fancy speech in order to declare they can do without it. But the truth is that everyone in the world is talking about it and, of course, I don't want to be out of it, so, be prepared to find out what I have to say about it. Come on, don't' worry, it is just a few lines. I bet you want to know what people are saying, besides iPad 's features, in order to decide whether you should purchase one right away or wait a bit longer (I assume that you're going to have one anytime soon). Well, I want to say a few things, but I wonder what. I'm not qualified to assess its features technically to be pro or pointing out its flaws to be con. I don't even see myself as a futurologist to foresee if iPad is going to supersede books, for instance, or if it is going to be something else like a necessity that comes out of the blue, inexorably. Therefore I'm focusing on what I think it is concerned to Information Technology, which is how we can make better use of the iPad to ourselves. I don't think that iPad is now here to replace books or anything. I might say that Steve Jobs, like many other Apple technicians, haven't had put any thought on it (they are smarter than that or they don't have time to waste with silly things). Maybe this arise to the mind a lot more as an echo of undelevoping ideas caused by the launching of its closed competitors (Kindle, Nook, Reader Daily, etc.) than its very first effectiveness proposal to be a product as iPad. At this point you already know what iPad is made for (along with its features so far), so I'm not going to waste your time around here. As I said, I think that the major role for an IT professional is to develop products and to provide services to run on it. For an IT professional iPad, like many other gadgets that would come, must be seen as a road in which vehicles products and services must be driven with simpler user interaction, knowledge development, and also learning. That´s Technology, my friend. And it has been like that since the very first moment when our ancient ancestral turned something out of nature into a tool to benefit of his own and his existence. From many articles I've read lately, I suggest one it´s called "Admirável Livro Novo" (Brave New Book) by Cristiane Costa from "Bravo!" magazine April issue in the Books section. Who would've thought… It figures!
